Prayer To God Our King (15 Apr)
Sing: God, the Uncreated One (King Forevermore)
Scripture: Psalm 93
1 The Lord reigns, He is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength;
indeed, the world is established, firm and secure.
2 Your throne was established long ago;
You are from all eternity.
3 The seas have lifted up, Lord,
the seas have lifted up their voice;
the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
mightier than the breakers of the sea—
the Lord on high is mighty.
5 Your statutes, Lord, stand firm;
holiness adorns Your house
for endless days.
Search your heart and pray as the Spirit leads.
You, O Lord, are majestic! You reign in righteousness. You are the great I AM, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. All that was created was made by You, for Your pleasure and good purpose. Creation fell when we sinned against You and chose to go our own way. Forgive us, Lord, for You are a holy God! Open the eyes of our hearts to look at You, to You, and for Your work around us, in us and through us. Remind us, Lord, that You are God and we are not. In You we live and move and have our being. Remind us that You say the word and all things came into existence. You can choose to do whatever You like. So Father, as we take time to look around us in the days ahead, remind us to sing our praises to You first. For when we really look at You, we remember Who holds all things together. We remember that You are greater than all that amazes or frightens us. Take us to Your holy Scriptures to truly savour every word that You give, to chew over it meditatively and to contemplate the truths for our own lives. By Your Spirit, move us in prayer and let us sing to the wonderful things that we discover in being with You. We pray these in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
