Respond To Jesus As His Disciples (10 May)

Scripture text: Mark 6:1-13
Sermon podcast: How To Respond When The Gospel Is Rejected – Rev. Ng Liang Wei on 10 May

Respond To Jesus

Holy God, You are our one and only true living God.

We thank You for today’s message in Mark. You humbly show us how You go to wherever the needs are. You do not hesitate to teach with wisdom and You perform miracles courageously. Yet, when You face rejection, You did not force Your message on the unwilling. You are meticulous, yet miraculous; sovereign, yet strategic.

Even though we have so much head knowledge of who You are and what You do, we often forget that we are Your disciples. We choose to stay in our comfort zone and form prejudice on who needs You and who doesn’t. You know the change we need, so please help us examine our lives closely today and yield to Your perspectives. May we not continue to sin by sitting on the fence,
always waiting for another person to do Your work, or waiting for another opportunity to come by.  Give us this day the urgency to go where You go and stay where You stay. Move us to re-order our lives to live out Your commission as a true disciple of Christ. Help us maintain unity as we work together with other believers.

Remind us that it is not our talents or gifts that matter.  It is our trust and obedience regardless of our standing that glorifies You. Please empower us as we step into Your provision, living out simply what it means not by our might nor by our power, but entirely by Your Spirit.  Let our object of faith be solely You, Jesus Christ, so that when we face rejection, we do not need to fight to persuade. We can comfortably move on and trust that where You have begun a good work, You will bring it to completion. May we be the bearer of faith that point others to You as the ultimate Healer, Deliverer, Saviour and Lord. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
