Prayer For Expectant And New Mothers (11 May)
Sing: What A Beautiful Name
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
Search your heart and pray as the Spirit leads
Almighty Father, You are immutable. You are the same from before the beginning of time to eternity.
As we go through this time of uncertainty together, please help us remember in our frailty that Your character never changes – You never get “better” or “worse.” Your plans do not change. Your promises do not change.
Today, we choose to remember the expectant mothers and the mothers of newborns. For the expectant mothers who are wondering what the future holds and are waiting – eg. visits to hospital, their precious unborn child, availability of confinement help, food delivery, don’t know how long this will all play out etc…we pray that You will hold Your outstretched arm to give them confidence, so that they can receive Your strength to face their fears, the unknowns, and the uncertainty as they lean on Your strength to fill them to overflowing.
For the expectant mothers who have received not-so-good news and are feeling unwell or bearing the burden of making a heavy decision, please wrap them with Your powerful love and peace. Help them settle their anxieties so that they can come into Your sweet presence, assured that You are right there in every corner of their life, even when they do not feel You. Let Your whispering voice be louder than all that they hear within them or outside them; You are fighting for them in ways they may not see or understand; Your faithfulness to them has not gone away.
For the mothers of newborns, please help them manage the mix of joys amidst the fears and anxieties they may have about the challenges of parenthood and the time ahead. Some may be tired, stressed or depressed; some may be struggling to balance the tasks of work and family; some are unable to feed their baby well; some have physical, mental or emotional disabilities…Abba Father, You know who these are, would You please guide them through this period? Do the impossible in and through them.
During this season of waiting, may You deepen each mother’s faith, revealing truths and fresh perspectives that will change them, while keeping them steady on the path ahead. Help them learn the secret of active waiting and faithful expectancy. Let Your constant Word and Song remind them that they are treasured, loved, called, and appointed. You have not lost their address. You know where they live, and You will show up right there, over them and around them, even during this circuit breaker period. In Jesus’ matchless name we pray, amen.
