Prayer For Manual Workers (25 May)
Sing: Jehovah Jireh
Scripture: Philippians 4:19
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Search your heart and pray as the Spirit leads
Jehovah Jireh, You are our provider. You supply all our needs according to Your riches in Heaven and Earth. For this, we are so thankful especially at such a time as this, when so many people lose their jobs or are about to lose their jobs, or their income is suspended due to the circumstances.
Today, we commit the manual-skilled labour workers, cleaners and drivers into Your special care. Their work requires physical presence, so we can imagine their worries when they are not able to work, not even from home. Lord Jesus, You know who they are. Would You please reach out to them with Your great tenderness even as we are praying for them?
You are our Bread of Life. Your Word says that whoever comes to You shall not hunger, and whoever believes in You shall never thirst. Open their spiritual eyes so that they might see Your presence and draw near to You. Satisfy them with Your peace as You soothe their fears. Guide them to Your dwelling place as You lead them beside streams of refreshing water, away from all the depressing thoughts or emotions to where hope and strength echo Your name. We pray and ask that this day, as their Provider, You miraculously deliver them, lift their chins, and show them windows of opportunity that they do not yet perceive. Empower them to see the good in this hardship (health, kinship, friendship etc.) so that their souls can be overwhelmed with Your joy. And in their weakness, please help them not to make any hasty decisions. Do not let their runaway emotions lead the way. Protect them and their family, so that no evil can take advantage of their vulnerable position.
We pray, too, that You will raise up Your people to be compassionate and kind towards the needy and weak at this time. Help us to be Your instrument to bring understanding where there is confusion, shine light where there is darkness, and ease sorrow where there is pain. Show us how we can help them receive beauty from ashes, hope from disappointment, and faith from fear. Your love has shown us the Way, so please help us not to forget Your benefits, but to share generously and not hoard, as this may be a time that unleashes a harvest of souls.
It is our hope that when we look back after this period, we may confidently say this – just as in Deuteronomy 8:17-18, “Your power and the strength of Your hands have produced this wealth for us.” But help us remember the Lord our God, for it is You who give us the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms Your covenant, which You swore to our ancestors, as it is today.” We pray this in Jesus’ matchless name. Amen!
