Sing: Praise You In This Storm

Scripture: Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Scripted prayer

Lord, You are Who You are. You are faithful, merciful, gracious and loving. I will praise You with my hands, especially for those who are too weary to lift them up. Lord, thank You for being our God of comfort who hears our prayers and knows our needs even when we are too tired to say it out loud. Dear God, even as some of us find it truly difficult to be cooped up indoors, we know that many who have to go to work would rather trade places with us, especially if they are on the frontlines in battling the virus. Remind us to be thankful and to pray daily for them.

Father, our hearts are grieved that the number of infections escalate daily. We seek Your forgiveness for overlooking the needs of our migrant workers. They need You, Father. Only You can move among them and touch them with Your healing hands. We ask for Your grace to intervene, to step in and cause this infection to subside and cease. Be with our government to put in place swift measures to help arrest further spread of this virus.

Father, please grant knowledge, insight and strength to all those who are trying to find a cure or vaccine, to put an end to this pandemic. We pray for our medical researchers and healthcare workers, especially for those who have been at the frontlines for more than 3 months now. The toll on them is not just physical, as the job requires great mental strength and alertness, adjusting quickly to the changing protocols and procedures. Grant them clarity and peace in the midst of all that is chaotic and challenging. Please, dear God, sustain them mentally, physically, emotionally, and especially spiritually. We rejoice that some medical professionals have come to know Jesus in such difficult times. Help them be compassionate and comfort the patients they care for. Grant that under their care, they will be asked the reason for their hope and speak Your love to the infected. When the medical workers get tired and discouraged and feel like there is no end in sight, remind them, Lord, that You are with them. You will guide them with Your staff and pick them up with Your strong and loving embrace. Grant them good, deep rest when they sleep, refreshment in body, mind and spirit, and strength and stamina when they awake. Please protect them from the virus. Watch over their families too and shield them from infection and fear. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Hear our prayers, we pray.

For the non-frontline healthcare workers, including allied health (therapy, clinical technicians, diagnostics etc), Father, we know that they, too, are at risk, and have to abide by stricter preventive measures at work. Support, strengthen and sustain them too, O Lord. Please be the Rock and Refuge that so many of them need as they are confronted with the overwhelming demands that are testing the whole health industry. We lift each and every person up to You to keep them and their families safe and healthy, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
